Resource scheduling
What is resource scheduling?
Resource scheduling is booking shared resources, such as meeting rooms, desks, equipment and services, for a specific time so they are available when people need them. In a Microsoft 365 organization, rooms and desks are usually resource mailboxes in Exchange, booked by adding them to a meeting.
Why it matters
Shared resources are limited. Without scheduling, people compete for the same rooms and equipment, double bookings appear and some resources sit idle. Good resource scheduling matches the right resource to each need and shows how resources are used.
What to schedule
- Meeting rooms and boardrooms
- Desks and other workspaces
- Services attached to a meeting, such as catering and room setups
- Visitors expected at reception
How AskCody handles resource scheduling
AskCody schedules rooms, desks, services and visitors from the Outlook invite, on top of the resource calendars in Microsoft Exchange. People filter by location, purpose, equipment and attendee count, and workplace analytics shows how the resources are used. See meeting room booking.
