Cost center
What is a cost center?
A cost center is the department, team or budget that a cost is charged to. For meetings, it decides who pays for the catering, room setups and other services ordered with the meeting, so finance can allocate the cost correctly instead of sending one large bill to facilities.
Why cost centers matter for meetings
Meeting services add up across an organization. Without a cost center on each order, the cost lands on one budget, finance spends month-end chasing who ordered what, and nobody sees what meetings actually cost each department.
How allocation works
The organizer selects the cost center when ordering, sometimes with extra fields such as a project code or client matter number. The order carries those details to the provider, and at the end of the period finance gets a report of every settled order, ready for the ERP system.
How AskCody handles cost centers
In AskCody, each catering or service order can carry its cost center, VAT and your own fields, from the Outlook invite to the kitchen and on to finance. Finance and Reports gives a condensed or detailed report of settled orders for the period, available as CSV or through the AskCody Services API.
