IWMS vs. meeting management

What is an IWMS?

An IWMS, or integrated workplace management system, is software that brings real estate, lease management, facility maintenance, space planning and sometimes room booking into one large platform. It is built for managing a property portfolio, which makes it broad and often a major implementation project.

IWMS vs. meeting management

An IWMS answers questions about buildings: leases, assets, maintenance and long-term space planning. Meeting management answers questions about meetings: is the right room booked, will the catering, AV and guests be ready, and what happens when the meeting moves. Many organizations do not need a full IWMS to solve meeting problems, and some run both side by side.

When a lighter approach fits

  • The main pain is meetings, rooms, catering and visitors, not leases or maintenance
  • Bookings should stay in Microsoft Exchange and Outlook
  • The organization wants results in weeks rather than a long IT project

How AskCody fits

AskCody is a meeting management platform built natively on Microsoft 365 and Exchange, not an IWMS. It covers rooms, desks, catering, visitors, displays and the data on how they are used, with bookings kept in Exchange as the single source of truth. See what is meeting management.

Frequently asked questions

What does IWMS stand for?

Integrated workplace management system. It is sometimes also expanded as integrated workplace management software.

Is meeting management software a lightweight alternative to an IWMS?

For meeting-related needs, yes. It focuses on rooms, services and visitors around each meeting rather than on real estate and maintenance.
